“The Dominican Dream” has been one of the best underdog stories in all of PPW.
Undersized at 5’7” and weighing less than 150 pounds, Rivera is a competitor who goes into every match knowing he is giving up the strength and size advantage. What most competitors fail to recognize, however, is the heart and resilience that “The Dominican Dream” wrestles with.
He has a never-say-die attitude that mixes with an incredible quickness that competitors cannot keep up with. One of those competitors was none other than PPW Television Champion Johnny Moran. Recently being paid off by Drew Adams to try and hurt Rivera, “The Dominican Dream” did the improbable and actually scored an upset victory over the Television Champ.
Then, at PPW Fight Night in Honesdale, Rivera defeated both Moran and PPW No Limits Champion Isaak Ruhl in a triple threat match. With the win, PPW management allowed for Rivera to choose which championship he would compete for at PPW Resistance on Saturday, December 21st.
Word came into PPW management not too long ago that Rivera wants to take on Johnny Moran, and the match has become official.
Moran is one of the longest-tenured and powerful men on the PPW roster. With his background and weightlifting as well as his experience in the wrestling industry, Moran, on paper, opposes a significant advantage over Rivera.
By that same token, Rivera already has a singles victory over Moran, something that has been festering in the mind of Moran for nearly two months.
Will Rivera be able to win his first championship and score another upset over Johnny Moran? Or will Moran derail “The Dominican Dream” and the momentum Rivera has built for himself?
