LIVE UPDATES: PPW Softball Tournament

PPW's Nicky "Bigtown" Uliana, Paul Bo, Tom Mitchell, former manager Tom Floyd, Michael Cammarelli, along with others, are participating in a charity softball tournament on Saturday, August 3rd. The tournament, which is a charity tournament to benefit Baseball for Bravery, is an all day double elimination tournament. Updates will be provided after each game.

GAME 5

PPW WINS! PPW WINS! Another brilliant pitching performance from Jeff Kiraly led to a 6-1 championship-sealing victory for Team PPW.

Brad Cusatis, Mike Foxx, and Corey Koziel all went deep in the championship game. Koziel scored twice in the championship contest. Tom Mitchell drove in a run and Brianna Holder added a key hit as well that led to her scoring from Koziel's 2-run blast.

GAME 4

In the semifinals of the winner's bracket, Team PPW had its biggest challenge of the day. Two undefeated teams met, and Team PPW squeaked out with the 5-4 victory!

A trio of home runs by Corey Koziel, Mike Foxx and Michael Camarelli powered the offense, with Koziel’s being a two run blast.

Tom Floyd drove in Tom Mitchell in the third inning for the other RBI.

Mitchell went 2 for 2 on the day and Brianna Holder hit a double and scored a run.

Team PPW moves onto the championship game, and has an loss to spare. They will play the winner of the loser's bracket. With no losses so far, the purple and gold warriors can lose the championship game and still play another to earn an opportunity to win it all.

GAME 3

Team PPW shook off a rocky first inning to cruise to a 11-0 victory in the third game. A solid effort from everyone propelled the team.

Some noticeable standouts were Jeff "The King" Kiraly, who was able to throw a 3 hit shutout in the quarterfinals. He helped himself out at the plate as well, falling a triple short of the cycle.

Corey Koziel and Mike Foxx each went 3 for 4, and Tom Floyd, Tom Mitchell and Brianna Holder went 2 for 3.

In other news, team captain Paul Bo has been downgraded from doubtful to out. "The Voice of PPW" has stepped in to become the new 1st base coach.

The next game is the semifinals. Let's see if Team PPW can continue its strong of good luck.

GAME 2

With Paul Bo out and Nicky "Bigtown" Uliana having other commitments, Team PPW was a bit shorthanded. It did not matter, as a strong defensive game and some solid offense propelled the squad.

Corey Koziel had a strong game, registering 3 hits in 3 at bats and scoring 2 runs. Tom Mitchell also went 3 for 3 in game 2. Jeff Kiraly and Brian Witner provided the pop for the lineup, hitting a home run each.

Team PPW moved on to the next round with the 8-6 victory, and were able to starve off a late comeback to pick up another crucial victory. Team PPW guarantees itself at least 2 more games with the win. Stay tuned to see how game 3 goes.

GAME 1

The opposing team got off to a hot start, garnering up a quick 4-1 lead after the first inning. The good guys representing PPW chipped away at the lead, which featured a few home runs and a SportsCenter worthy homerun robbing catch by Cammarelli, brought the game to 6-6 heading into the final inning.

Jeff Kiraly had a masterful performance after a shaky first inning, fanning 11 batters in the game. A clutch play from 3rd to home kept the game close, setting the stage for a dramatic final inning.

With 2 outs and a runner on second, Paul Bo stepped up to the plate and delivered a single up the middle. Cammarelli rounded third and was able to score to gain the victory for Team PPW, 7-6.

The win came with a price, as Paul Bo tweaked his knee in the process of hitting. The resilient ring announcer was able to hobble to first before he fell over. Paul's status for the rest of the day is doubtful. Stay tuned for updates.
