Citing a knee injury that was sustained last weekend, Kaitlyn has informed PPW management Tuesday morning that she will be unable to attend PPW's event this weekend, “Throwdown on 5th Street.” Kaitlyn was originally scheduled to be Christina Marie's challenger for the PPW Women's Championship. In her place, PPW has come to an agreement with Mercedes Martinez. Martinez, a fulltime member of SHINE has recently competed in the Mae Young Classic in both 2017 and 2018. Martinez would defeat Xia Li, Princesa Sugehit and Abbey Laith en route to losing to Shayna Baszler in the tournament's semi-finals.
Martinez would follow that up with a win the very next year making it to the second round defeating Ashley Rayne before losing to Meiko Satomura. Martinez has also competed and won championship titles in promotions such as SHIMMER and SHINE, and was recognized as the second best female wrestler in the world in the PWI rankings a few years ago.
Christina Marie has said she is up for the challenge and the match is signed for the PPW Women's Championship this Saturday in Hazleton!
